We love to bare our beautiful skin in the warm sunshine, but there is extra care to be taken in summer for health and beauty. These three easy steps will ensure your skin is healthy, protected and beautiful. Aging is something that happens to everybody, but some people seem to develop wrinkles earlier than others… Why is that? A lot of it has to do with genetics, but much of it also has to do with lifestyle factors. So please take the time to take care of your skin, it is after all the largest organ of the body!
1) Exfoliate Your body produces and sheds skin cells at an amazing rate. It is important to take time to gently remove them or they create a barrier on your skin surface and make hydration almost impossible. No matter how much lotion you use, you will never get glowing skin if you don’t exfoliate first. So grab a loofah or your favorite sugar scrub and hit the shower! Choose a gentle facial exfoliate for your face and neck… and don’t forget your feet!

2) Hydrate This is the time to move to light weight moisturizers. Look for something fast absorbing such as gels or purees. Apply right after your shower to seal in the moisture your body just soaked in.

3) Protect One of the most important things you can do for your skin health and appearance is protect again the harmful rays of the sun. Choose a sunscreen should contain SPF 30 or higher and protect against both ultraviolet A and B (UVA and UVB). Stock up on fresh each season as sunscreens do not have a long shelf life, and over time their protective properties can break down. Sunscreen needs to be applied at least 30 minutes prior to going into the sun. You should reapply every two to three hours. Protective clothing can be worn to avoid sun exposure as well. Big brimmed hats will protect eyes, ears, scalp and neck.
